After the World Cup, Brazil will play its first match, and face to face, against the fourth placed team in the competition.

The game is scheduled to take place on March 25th, at 7 pm, in Tangier, Morocco, and will be the first time that the Brazilian team plays on Moroccan soil.

It will also be Brazil's first match after 6 and a half years of the Tite era and, at the moment, the team is led by interim coach Ramon.

Furthermore, many players who were members of the Brazilian national team will no longer participate in the team due to age issues.

On the other hand, many “new” faces were called to show their talent in the Brazilian team.

And without a defined coach, and with many new players, the team comes this way for the friendly between Brazil and Morocco.

The Morocco team, on the other hand, is going through the opposite situation, with the same coach as in the World Cup, and practically the same lineup.

Coach Walid Regragui has been doing a great job with the Moroccan national team, managing to get the best out of his players.

Under his command, the Morocco national team achieved a historic feat, and became the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals.

And leaving great opponents along the way, Regragui's team defeated the teams from Canada, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal.

Playing engaging football with a high technical level, Morocco arrives at a great level for the friendly.

Brazil lineup

The Brazilian team is now under the command of interim coach Ramon Menezes, and announced this Friday, 03/03/2023, the squad.

And after almost seven years of the Tite era, big names in Brazilian football appeared on the list.

So, check out the complete list below:

Goalkeepers:

  •  Ederson (Manchester City)
  •  Mycael (Athletico-PR)
  •  Weverton (Palmeiras)

Sides:

  • Arthur (America-MG),
  • Emerson Royal (Tottenham),
  • Alex Telles (Sevilla) and
  • Renan Lodi (Nottingham Forest)

Defenders:

  • Ibañez (Rome),
  • Éder Militão (Real Madrid),
  • Marquinhos (PSG)
  • Robert Renan (Zenit)

Midfielders:

  •  André (Fluminense)

  • João Gomes (Wolverhampton)

  • Anthony (Manchester United)
  • Richarlison (Tottenham)
  • Rodrygo (Real Madrid)
  • Ron (Palmeiras)
  • Vini Júnior (Real Madrid)
  • Vitor Roque (Athletico-PR)

Just by the look of the squad you can already see a big change, after all Tite was very conservative, which cost the Brazilian team dearly in the World Cup.

Firstly, we already noticed the lack of Alisson, starting goalkeeper in the World Cup, an irreplaceable player in Tite's squad.

Another big difference was the number of players who play in Brazilian football called up.

Names that had been requested for some time such as Rafael Veiga, Rony and André finally gained a place in the cast.

Young talents were also very welcome in Ramon Menezes' squad, after all, Andrey and Vitor Roque will make up the Brazil x Morocco squad on the 25th.

  • Sofiane Boufal
  • Ibrahim Salah

The coach practically repeated his call-up for the World Cup, where great players performed well.

Ziyech and Hakimi, the best known, had a great World Cup, always contributing very positively to the team's attack.

In addition to these two stars of European football, the Moroccan team had some good surprises in this World Cup.

Midfielders Amrabat and Ounahi, who showed great potential in the competition, and after the World Cup received offers from big clubs, are also scheduled to play in the Brazil x Morocco friendly.

Retrospect of Brazil x Morocco

Brazil and Morocco have only faced each other on two occasions in the entire history of football.

One in the 1998 World Cup, with Brazil winning 3-0, and on the other occasion, it was also a friendly.

In this second match, Brazil beat the Moroccan team 2-0, in this sense, Brazil has the advantage.

However, this African team's football has evolved a lot since then, and given the small number of matches between the two teams, many conclusions cannot be drawn.

What to expect from this friendly

Even though it's just a friendly match, no team likes to lose, especially Brazil, known for being the country of football.

However, the Moroccan team, throughout its World Cup campaign, arrives as a great opponent for Brazil, which has a completely different team, with important cogs outside the team, such as Neymar and Thiago Silva.

Furthermore, with a lot of “new blood” on the field and little time to prepare this new team, it is not known how the team will perform, but there is no lack of quality in the Brazilian squad.

On the other hand, the Moroccan team arrives with its team fully assembled, and with its parts working at full steam.

The ugly work done by coach Walid Regragui has increasingly strengthened this team, which has great players.

It is possible to expect a game where Morocco's technical superiority can prevail over Brazil, as they have more training time.

However, Brazil has much more quality in the team, which could end up surprising the individual quality of the athletes.

Brazil will not have an easy game against Morocco, but they could end up winning if their reference players like Casemiro and Vinicius Jr are able to play at a high level.
