What is the Campeonato Gaúcho?

The Campeonato Gaúcho is the biggest football competition in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and one of the oldest competitions in Brazil.
It was created in 1919 and has been played to this day. The competition only did not take place in two years, 1923 and 1924, due to the Federalist Revolution.
How does this championship work?
The Campeonato Gaúcho is made up of the 12 best teams in the State of Rio Grande do Sul.
Where the competition is divided into two parts, the straight points phase, and the knockout phase.
In the first phase, all 12 teams play each other, in unique games, where each team must play all the others once.
At the end of all rounds, teams will be ranked according to traditional points rules.
Therefore, the team that wins receives three points, the teams that draw receive one point each, and the team that loses receives no points.
At the end of all rounds, the four teams with the highest number of points move on to the knockout stage.
In this second phase, the games take place in two stages, with the first team playing at home as the home team, and the other playing away as the visitor.
Furthermore, the goal count is cumulative, that is, if team A scores one goal in the first game, and two in the return game, the final score will be 3 x 0, and at this stage, whoever has the highest total wins.
This system is repeated in the semifinals, and in the final, thus crowning whoever wins all these stages.
Remembering that the two teams with the worst score among the 12 are relegated to Gaúchão series B.
