What is Paulistão?
Firstly, the Campeonato Paulista de Futebol, or rather, Paulistão, is a state competition that brings together the best teams in São Paulo.
It is considered one of the most traditional championships in Brazil, as it was one of the first football competitions to take place in Brazil.
And, today, it has great teams such as São Paulo, Corinthians and many others, being considered the most competitive state competition in Brazil.
How does this championship work?
The format of this competition is a little different, in total, 16 teams participate, and Paulistão has two stages, group stage and knockouts.
However, the group stage is different from what we know, instead of playing against opponents in their group, teams play against teams from other groups.
In other words, each team faces all the teams in the other groups once, at the end of all rounds, the two best teams in each group move on to the knockout stages.
Then the games take place in the traditional knockout format, so whoever wins goes to the semi-finals, and so on until the final, and whoever loses is out.

- Saint Andrew
- Portuguese
So far, Bragantino, São Paulo, Palmeiras and Corinthians are leading their groups, the big surprise is Santos, who are at the bottom of their group.
