Ecuador and Qatar played the opening game of the World Cup, with the South American team getting the better of the competition's host.

The game started with pressure from the Latin team, until after three minutes, after a mistake in the Qatar defense, Enner Valencia, captain of the Ecuadorian team, scored, however, the first goal of the World Cup was offside.

After a few minutes of Ecuador's tactical superiority, the real first goal of the World Cup came.

In the 13th minute of the first half, Valencia, after a counterattack, is brought down by the goalkeeper inside the area, he takes the shot himself and opens the score.

The second goal comes again after a quick counterattack. Close to the 31st minute of the first half, the Ecuador captain receives a cross from his teammate, Preciado, and finds the net.

Remembering that he could have scored a hat trick if his first goal had not been disallowed for offside.

Valencia, a player from Ecuador, reaches his 37th goal for his national team, and his 5th goal in world cups. He is the greatest scorer of this Ecuadorian generation. 

It is important to remember that Qatar is one of the weakest teams in this competition, participating in a World Cup for the first time, this being the expected result.

On the other hand, even with the defeat, it was a very important game for the Middle Eastern country.

The day began with the duel between England and Iran, where the British emerged with a crushing victory.

One of the favorites for the title started off on the right foot at the World Cup.

Especially after the criticism that coach Gareth Southgate received, after leaving great players like Sancho and Henderson out of the competition.

However, it surprises with this brilliant performance from the England team.

The English came to the game with the mission of breaking through Iran's defensive line, which entered the field with five defenders and four midfielders to obstruct the opposing team's creation.

The strategy worked until around the 35th minute of the first half, when, after a play on the wings, Luke Shaw crossed into the area and Bellingham scored England's first goal in the World Cup.

When the English machine heated up, Iran's defense line was broken play after play.

After the first goal, it was as if something cracked the Iranians' defense.

Even before the end of the first half, England scored two more goals. One with Saka on a ball near the box, and one with Raheem Sterling.

With the game practically guaranteed, the English returned for the second half and continued to go forward.

Unlike the first half, Iran woke up and scored a goal in an attempt to react with Mehdi Taremi, but hope was short-lived.

Soon after the small reaction, the British scored two more goals, one with Rashford and another almost at the end with Jack Grealish.

Iran scored in stoppage time with a penalty, a goal also scored by Mehdi Taremi. However, the damage was already done.

The two teams play again next Friday, the 25th.

The second match of the day was a great game, despite the 2 x 0 victory, it was a very balanced match with the goals only coming at the end.

The match started with both teams going head on, and with Senegal surprising the opponent tactically, valuing possession of the ball and attacking a lot from the flanks.

Despite the pressure from the Senegalese, it was the Netherlands who had the clearest opportunity in the first half. After a counterattack, Dutch player Frankie De Jong came face to face with the goalkeeper, but ended up unarmed.

Unlike the first half, the second half of the game started very slowly, with many mistakes and fatigue appearing on both sides.

Only at the end, in the 84th minute, after a cross from De Jong, surprising the Senegal goalkeeper, did Gakpo score with a header.

Rocked by the fans, the mechanical orange team scored again at the end of stoppage time.

Thus ended the second game of the day, marked by balance.

Even though Senegal played a good game, they were unable to come out with the victory.

The two teams faced each other this Monday, the 21st, in a game with few scoring chances, but with a lot of emotion.

With superstars Pulisic, leading the United States team, and Garath Bale, leading Wales.

The game revolved around the USA trying to attack and the Welsh defending. Until the 35th minute, after a quick move by Pulisic, he passed to his teammate Weah, who was in front of the goal and scored.

After the American goal, Wales found themselves in an uncomfortable situation and had to go all out. 

At the end of the game, at 81', after a few minutes attacking the United States' field, Garath Bale is pulled and brought down inside the penalty area. He himself hits and ends a 64-year drought for his team without goals in the World Cup.
