The team has some injuries, but coach Tite has already selected his replacements and is ready for the game against Croatia.
Now it's all or nothing, whoever wins advances, and whoever loses is out. Then see the list of players who will start the match this Friday, 12/08.
Brazil 2022 starting team:
Brazil has been playing in a 4-3-3 formation a little different from the traditional one, due to injuries to the full-backs called up.
After Alex Sandro's hip and knee injury to Alex Telles, coach Tite, had to make some changes to the team.
See the list of players who will take the field in the quarterfinals and what the coach did to try to correct this problem:
- Alisson – Goalkeeper.
- Éder Militão – Right back.
- Marquinhos – Defender.
- Thiago Silva – Defender.
- Danilo – Left back.
- Casemiro – Steering wheel.
- Paqueta – Midfield.
- Neymar – Attacking midfielder.
- Rapinha – Right winger.
- Vini Jr – Left Wing.
- Richarlison – Center Forward.
It is with these stars that Brazil goes after the hexa.
With Alex Telles out of the World Cup, and Alex Sandro injured, the team's left side is missing.
The one who is breaking the bank there is Éder Militão, who is a defender, however, he has played on the wing on other occasions.
The expectation is that the official full-back, Alex Sandro, will return to make up Brazil's starting team in the semis, if Brazil passes the stage.
But check out some details about how Brazil's team is doing and the role of each player in the strategy adopted to take home the title:
Defensive sector
Goal
The goalkeeper is one of the most important roles, being the last line of defense. In our national team, the one who defends the goal is Alisson.
When the midfield and defense lines are overtaken and fail, he is the one who takes action to prevent the goal.
He has already been considered one of the best in the world in his position, and is having an excellent season at Liverpool. Brazil's goal is in good hands.
Zaga
In this Brazilian starting team, the formation uses two full-backs and two defenders.
At the moment, this is one of the weaknesses of this team, not because the players are bad, but because they are playing outside their comfort zone.
Danilo and Militão need to play in different positions than they are used to.
Due to injuries to players in that position, Militão is playing improvised as a direct wing-back. However, in Tite's strategy, he practically acts as a third defender.
Danilo is a right-back, despite this, he is playing on the left side, the opposite side of his official position.
The reason is to help Vini Jr in getting into the opponent's field on that side, and giving the midfield a passing option, as Éder Militão does not have an offensive characteristic, Danilo will be freer to support the attack.
In this adaptation made by the coach, Militão will form a line of three players with the other defenders, freeing Danilo and Paquetá, who play in midfield, to play in more offensive roles.
As for the central defenders, we have Thiago Silva and Marquinhos. Captain Thiago plays more on the right side and Marquinho on the left side.
This is a sector of great security for Brazil's starting team, as both players are having an excellent World Cup.
Brazil conceded two goals in four games, and one of those goals, the team was playing with the reserve team.
Considering the games where both were present, Brazil's goal was practically not threatened, due to the excellent performance of the two players.
Furthermore, the two defenders still have a great influence on the attack, being excellent headers, always putting the opponent's goal in danger in corners and set pieces.
Midfield
In midfield, Casemiro is the first player in this sector, playing one of the most important roles, acting as the midfielder of the Brazilian team.
His role is to be the first player to fight and try to recover the ball when the opposing team attacks.
Above the defense, he is the first line of defense, with Paquetá, ready to act and prevent the opposing team from catching Brazil's defense off guard.
Furthermore, both players have the role of supporting the attack, and creating plays, helping to transition the ball from one side of the field to the other, to find spaces in the opposing defense.
Casemiro, plays a little further back, right in the middle of the two defenders, while Paquetá, plays further forward, closer to Neymar, the last piece of that midfield.
Neymar plays as the team's brain, trying to create spaces to give his teammates a chance to finish, or even for him to score the goal himself.
After the injury, it was doubtful whether he would continue in the World Cup, but he recovered and is now another of Tite's weapons to win the sixth title.
Attack
Brazil's starting attack is made up of Vini JR, Raphinha and Richarlison. Neymar is a midfielder, but he has complete freedom in the Brazilian team to practically be a fourth striker.
Vini Jr is a left winger, and Raphinha is a right winger, the two have similar roles, but due to their style of play, they perform them in a completely different way.
Vini is a player with a lot of speed, generally Brazil's reference in counterattacks.
He plays in depth, attacking the opposing team's right flank, invading the penalty area and going for the finish.
Raphinha also has this depth, but, unlike Vini Jr, he goes deeper into the field, and looks for a teammate better positioned in the area to play.
At the center of this deadly attack by the Brazilian team is him, the “Pigeon”, as he became popular. Richarlison is the classic number 9, playing as a professional center forward.
He plays by positioning himself right in the center of the opposing defense, to receive the ball from a teammate and finish, or to take advantage of a possible rebound from the opposing goalkeeper.
Just as the first line of attack is the defense, where plays begin to be created, the attack is the first line of defense, where you can prevent the opponent from starting plays.
This is another role that Richarlison has been performing very well, he advances as soon as the opposing team has the ball, disrupting the other team's creation right from the first line.
This is Brazil's starting team for the next games, and the role of each of these cogs that move the complex machine that is the Brazilian team.
